Middle Road, turning into Locust Street spans 20 miles, beginning in northeast Bettendorf and ending in western Davenport. It is a thoroughfare for traffic in Scott County. This is a FTF Power Trail, beginning at the start of Middle Road. A "Power Trail" is a series of at least 50 geocaches within close proximity. A "FTF Power Trail" means that if you are the "first to find" (i.e. the 'FTF') of a cache in this series, PLEASE 'PAY IT FORWARD' BY PLACING THE NEXT CACHE ALONG THIS TRAIL, AND PLEASE DO SO WITHIN TWO WEEKS OF GETTING THE FTF. Keep in mind that some areas will be higher muggle traffic than others, so you may have to be creative in your hides, or may have to dive slightly off course to put out a hide.
The geocache is NOT at the posted coordinates. To save yourself a great deal of time and frustration, PLEASE read the entire description before attempting this geocache!
Groundspeak HQ is temporarily allowing geocachers to use Augmented Reality apps in their geocaches! This geocache is part of an experiment that allows the use of Augmented Reality (AR) apps to find the cache (see the HELP center article). At the end of this experiment, Geocaching HQ will decide if this cache will be grandfathered or archived. Geocaching HQ reserves the right to archive this cache at any time if conditions change. Augmented Reality is a new phenomenon which takes the image that your mobile device sees and is able to add in extra things for you to interact with. Currently much of the software that is available to produce Augmented Reality is a bit buggy. It crashes quite regularly and uses up a lot of mobile data when being played. There is definitely a LOT of potential though for Augmented Reality to add to the geocaching experience in the future so this is certainly early stages.
To find this geocache, you will need a GPS and a smartphone. To play this Augmented Reality geocache you will need to download an app called "Metaverse." It is available on both android and ios devices. You will need to download this app and sign in. There may be more than one app called metaverse, so make sure that you are downloading the correct app - the logo should be pink with a white "M" in the middle. If in doubt, use the links that I provided above.
Once you have the app installed, you will need to go out to the posted coordinates!. There is no geocache there, but this cartridge is location-based, so it will not work unless you are within 40 meters of the posted coordinates. So head out to the posted coordinates and launch the app. (make sure that you gave permission to use your location and your camera or the cartridge will not work) You should see a cartridge called 'MTL FTF PT #64' listed under "nearby experiences" in Metaverse. (It should be toward the top of the screen). If it doesn't appear in "nearby experiences", key-in 'MTL FTF' into the 'search' field and search for it! Once you see the correct cartridge listed, click on that name/link to start the experience.
Once you have the cartridge launched, you should see the 'Fab Four' floating somewhere in 'virtual reality' on your smartphone screen. They may not be directly in front of you, so if you don't see them, turn around slowly while looking into the smartphone screen. You should be able to spot them. If you see them, but the text is too small to read, start moving closer to them and the text should get larger. Once you see them, the rest is very simple. Just follow the instructions and choose the correct answers until you get the final coordinates.
Once you have the final coordinates, you will need to enter them into a GPS device, or your caching app on your smartphone... just like any other mystery cache. The final container is within 2 miles of the posted coordinates.

Make sure that you download the correct Metaverse app for your phone type, AND SIGN IN TO THE APP!
