Eleven months out of the year, this is just another ammo can in the woods. (Admittedly, some really pretty woods!) But during the Christmas season, this cache is a little more special. Your task is to hike into the woods and find the Christmas Tree. Not only are you to find the tree, but you should bring something to help decorate the tree! Just imagine the non-Geocacher hiking through the woods and coming upon a fully decorated tree! If you don't happen to observe Christmas, feel free to bring a decoration of something important to you. There is also an unactivated Hurtigruten TB for the FTF.NOTE: While we believe that the tree is far enough into the woods to prevent others from spotting it, don't leave anything that you really value on the tree.
This is an easy hike of less than 1/2 of a mile with some elevation change. You can get there from the 16th or 17th disc golf fairway. It should be easily accessible for children of almost any age.
Sometime not long after New Year's Day there will be an event to come and take everything off of the tree. We'll have coffee and hot chocolate and will take the tree down and pick up any trash in the area. Here's the link to the event.
The cache is located in Richmod Hill Park in Buncombe County. The park closes at dusk so please plan your trip accordingly.
