This group of caches will help you to explore the two Munros of Beinn a'Chaorainn (Ranked #79 at 3,451ft / 1052m) and Beinn Teallach (Ranked #282 at 3,002ft / 915m).
The route begins just off the A86 near Roughburn (860ft / 262m) and then leads through a forestry plantation before emerging into the open glen next to Allt a'Chaorainn. From here on there is no path and the tough uphill slog begins through the heather via the rocky knolls of Meall Clachaig (2,051ft / 625m).
When placing these caches I completed the circuit in an anti-clockwise direction by starting with Meall Clachaig and finishing at Allt a'Chaorainn. ***Please note that the lower slopes are very boggy and a river crossing will be required at the end of the route***
Beinn a'Chaorainn (Mountain of the Rowan Tree) and Beinn Teallach (Hill of the Hearth) are much less visited than their better known neighbour Creag Meagaidh to the east. Their lower slopes may be boggy, but the walk along the summit ridge of Beinn a'Chaorainn is a delight. Beinn Teallach was once the highest of the Corbetts before being promoted to one of the smallest Munros.
