El término municipal es el territorio bajo el que ejerce su jurisdicción y competencias un Ayuntamiento. Los límites municipales muchas veces están delimitados por caminos, ríos, cimas de cordilleras. Pero en otras ocasiones, en mitad de campos de labor para distinguir qué parcela pertenece a qué municipio (como es el caso que ocupa este caché), hay mojones que marcan sus límites. Este caché se encuentra bajo uno de esos mojones.
El mojón tiene forma cuadrangular, y en cada uno de los lados vienen indicados cuatro lugares. Entendenderíamos pues que cada uno de los lados está en un término municipal. Si te acercas bien podrás distinguir en cada una de las caras unos nombres labrados en la piedra del mojón:

O: IRIÉPAL
S: VILLAFLORES
E: LUPIANA
¡Oh, vaya! Se nos ha colado Vilaflores, pues pertenece a Iriépal. De hecho, su nombre lo toma de la antigua denominación de Iriépal. Es más, ya ni siquiera pertenece al término municipal de Iriépal, pues éste se anexionó al de Guadalajara en 1969.
¿Entonces este mojón no señala los límites municipales? Pues sí y no.
El mojón está exactamente en el cruce de tres términos municipales: Guadalajara, Centenera y Lupiana. Sin embargo, no está bien orientada la señalización para este respecto. Más bien, cada cara está señalando cuál es la población más cercana hacia el lado al que está mirando, más o menos.
Por ello, la cara en la que pone Lupiana, está mirando hacia este pueblo, pero curiosamente está "partida" por el límite entre Centenera y Lupiana. Lo mismo pasa con la cara que mira a Centenera, que está dividida entre Centenera y Guadalajara; y con la que pone Villaflores, dividida entre Lupiana y Guadalajara. Sólo la cara que pone Iriépal corresponde íntegramente con el municipio al que nombra (o nombraba), hoy dentro de Guadalajara.
Por otra parte, este mojón también marca el límite de la vía pecuaria. Hay más mojones indicando el límite de la vía pecuaria muy cerca de éste y a lo largo de la cañada, sólo que en estos casos tiene inscrito en uno de sus lados las siglas VP.
Este caché pretende ser también un homenaje a vxon_kitt, que nos dejó como legado la maravillosa serie Deep Alcarria.
The municipal term is the territory under which it exercises its jurisdiction and powers a City Council. The municipal limits are often delimited by roads, rivers, summits of mountain ranges. But at other times, in the middle of labor camps to distinguish which parcel belongs to which municipality (as is the case in this cache), there are boundaries markers that mark their limits. This cache is under one of those markers.
The boundary marker is quadrangular, and four places are indicated on each side. We would understand then that each one of the sides is in a municipal term. If you get close you can distinguish in each of the faces names carved in the stone of the marker:

Oh, wow! Vilaflores has slipped in, since it belongs to Iriépal. In fact, its name takes it from the old denomination of Iriépal. Moreover, it does not even belong to the Iriépal municipal district, since it was annexed to that of Guadalajara in 1969.
So this marker does not indicate the municipal boundaries? Yes and no.
The boundary marker is exactly at the junction of three municipalities: Guadalajara, Centenera and Lupiana. However, signage is not well oriented in this regard. Rather, each face is pointing out which is the closest population to the side it is looking at, more or less.
For this reason, the face on which Lupiana puts it is looking towards this town, but curiously it is "split" by the boundary between Centenera and Lupiana. The same goes for the face that looks at Centenera, which is divided between Centenera and Guadalajara; and with the one that puts Villaflores, divided between Lupiana and Guadalajara. Only the face set by Iriépal corresponds entirely to the municipality it names (or named), today inside Guadalajara.
On the other hand, this milestone also marks the limit of the cattle route. There are more boundaries markers indicating the limit of the cattle track very close to it and along the gorge, only that in these cases it has inscribed on one of its sides the acronym VP.
This cache also aims to be a tribute to vxon_kitt, which left us as a legacy to the wonderful series Deep Alcarria.
