Geocache Description:

Welcome to the HD JP Memorial Caches.  All caches with a title beginning "HD JP --"  have been placed in honor of our good friend Larry who was a geocaching genius.  His 61,825 finds stand as an inspiration to us all!  HD JP was known for the quality and professionalism of his more than 150 hides, and we aim to reflect his values in our memorial to him.

************************************************************************

I first met Larry in 2008 at the Richmond Rally, which was the first official event that I attended.  I had just started geocaching the year before with not many finds, but Larry (as well as many others!) were quite welcoming.  We talked for a bit and later he got in touch with me to see if I wanted to go caching with him in Pocahontas.  From there we went on a few different trips: lots of Pocahontas caches, Henricus, Belle Isle, and various caches around the Richmond area.  All were really great times.  I fell out of caching for nearly six years, but when I got back into it again I was happy to see Larry's smiling face at one of the first events I showed up to.  From there, we planned a trip along the Tobacco Heritage Trail, a boating trip through the James River, and a kayaking trip on Harrison Lake.  Not to mention how many times I got in touch with him for help on puzzle caches!

He was such a great person to be around.  Always smiling.  Always very interested in talking about geocaching stories and very happy to celebrate milestones.  He was with me for my 2,000th cache on the Tobacco Heritage Trail.

This cache is dedicated to my friend Larry.  He will be truly missed.
