Anyone interested in meeting local Tidewater Geocachers. Let's have a cup of coffee or soda, or a dip in the chocolate fountain, at this country grocers Hardee's Golden Corral at 2pm on Sunday, December 9th. Leave a "find" "Will Attend" if you want to come."
Sunday, December 9, 2018 is the 17th anniversary of the first published event in Hampton Roads, GC2A05: Tidewater Meeting, by rsky1. I say published event, because the actual event never happened. It was archived before the event date. Seems that there very few Tidewater geocachers 17 years ago and there wasn't much interest in getting together for coffee or soda.
Little Earl's Market, the "country grocer" where the original event was to be held, is a little small to host an event.
The second version of Tidewater Meeting (GC179AB) was on Sunday, December 9, 2007 and was held at the Hardees just a few hundred feet from the the first event. That location is now a Mexican restaurant and to small for an event.
The third version of Tidewater Meeting was moved again to a larger facility: the Golden Corral at Red Mill Commons. Great Scott speculated that the next one may need to be held at the Virginia Beach Convention Center. Sadly the last few years event attendence has dropped off significantly.
Great Scott asked me to keep this traditional event going so for this, the fourth version of Tidewater Meeting, I thought we could take a step back and go to Hardee's again.
Stop by to meet some fellow geocachers; make some new friends; tell some old stories; and make up some new lies. Nothing is planned. Just a plain ol' meet and greet (and eat!) Join us at Hardee's on Battlefield Bvld. Sunday December 9th, 2018 2-4 PM.
