This cache has been archived.

Wis Kid: I noticed that this cache has remained temporarily disabled for a period of time well in excess of the period of 'a few weeks' as contemplated by the cache guidelines published on Geocaching.com. For now, I'm temporarily archiving this to keep it from continually showing up in search lists. Just contact me at the below e-mail address when you have the cache repaired, and assuming it still meets the guidelines, we'll be happy to unarchive it.

If you haven?t done so already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

I want to thank you for the time that you have taken to contribute to geocaching in the past.

Thanks for your understanding,

Geocache Description:

I just don't understand how Wisconsin can take a perfectly attractive horizon like we have at the edge of thousands of Illinois corn fields and completely obscure it with tall, towering pine trees, rolling hills and majestic waterfalls. Nothin's flat in this state! It's all craggy and hilly and twisty with streams and trails and stuff.

Disgusting.

A nice flat line across the horizon stirs the heart and makes a strong man cry and here you've gone and mucked all of yours up with all this nature-y stuff. So I brought a flat cache container and placed it somewhere along a trail in Copper Falls State Park. This is a gorgeous park in Northern Wisconsin. Cache seekers will be rewarded with an enjoyable hike with points along the Bad River where you can climb on the rocks and the copper colored water (colored from tannin in the trees, not the mineral) cascades along next to you.

where is the darn thing?

The cache container was originally covered fairly well, and it shouldn't be discovered by casual visitors, so it might take a bit of searching to find it. The picture clues below might be of help as it was a fairly wooded area. When it was first placed, it included a travel bug from New York as well as my own Beer Bottle Bug who is looking to hitch a ride to Ireland.

The trail off which the cache is hidden is about a 3 mile loop. While visiting the park searching for this cache, be sure to do the shorter Nature trail as well. Here you can see the namesake Copper Falls and several other stunning waterfalls. There is also a tall observation tower which you can climb up. From this vantage point you can finally see the horizon lines, flattened out as God intended them to be.
