Geocache Description:

This cache is placed at one of the many points of interest on the loop walk around Quail Island in Lyttelton Harbour. Access is by water only, so you can take the ferry from Lyttelton (Black Cat Cruises), paddle, row, JetSki, SUP...the choice is yours. Once on the island you will need to walk almost halfway from the jetty, in a clockwise direction, to get to where the cache is. From the information board about the shipwrecks, you will see a large rocky outcrop to your right and down towards the sea. It is steep terrain and would be slippery in the rain. NO DOGS are permitted on the island, geokids are ok, but I would take it easy or leave younger ones up on the track. I apologise in advance for the container, it was a spur of the moment idea after some geocaching on the island myself!

NB! From April -September, the Black Cat Ferry operates in the weekends only!
