This cache is placed above one of the many points of interest on the loop walk around Quail Island in Lyttelton Harbour. Access is by water only, so you can take the ferry from Lyttelton (Black Cat Cruises), paddle, row, JetSki, SUP...the choice is yours. Once on the island you will get to it quickest by heading in a clockwise direction to the beaches, then up the hill to the kennels. From the information board about the Kennels for Shackletons dogs, you can find the cache by continuing on up the hill until you are near a large pine tree on your left. At that point you will need to leave the track on the left hand side and continue beyond the large pine tree where you will find a nice wee stump to sit on and sign the log. You are looking for a black film canister. . NO DOGS are permitted on the island, geokids are ok! I apologise in advance for the container, it was a spur of the moment idea after some geocaching on the island myself!
