Malawi
Malawi is a small producer by world standards, probably right at the bottom of the list of the top fifty coffeee producers. All of the coffee that is grown in Malawi is a form of Arabica coffee which was introduced by missionaries in 1800s.
Commercial growing was concentrated in Southern Malawi in Thyolo, Mulanje, Zomba and Mangochi while smaller growers operating through cooperatives are concentrated in the northern and central regions. The Cooperatives have formed Mzuzu Coffee Planters Coperative Untion. Mzuzu coffee has hit the Worlds Coffee specialty markets of Japan, Europe and America and has consistently obtained premium prices on the market.
Malawi coffee is known for its full body and smooth and round taste with a soft flavor profile.
