Italiano La chiesa di San Domenico è maggiormente conosciuta con il nome di cappella Sistina siciliana perché, nonostante l'esterno appaia scarno e un po' malmesso, l'interno vanta decorazioni plastiche meravigliose barocche e policrome. Una volta entrati i visitatori saranno ammaliati e impressionati dalla quantità di decorazioni, dipinti, statue e stucchi che si sovrappongono quasi all'infinito. È stata edificata nel 1470. Dal 1574 al 1580 l'interno è decorato da Antonino Ferraro da Giuliana, in collaborazione coi figli Tommaso, Orazio e l'intera bottega. L'artista "firma" i vari capolavori inserendo il proprio autoritratto tra gli affreschi del coro, il profilo raffigurato in elegante costume "alla spagnola", già anziano con barba lunga. La la particolarità della chiesa a cui deve anche il soprannome è l'albero di Jesse, un manufatto in stucco raffigurante l'albero genealogico che partendo da Jesse, padre di re Davide, schematizza la discendenza che porta alla Beata Vergine Maria, rappresentata al sommo dell'albero, coronata da angeli, con il bambino sul ginocchio sinistro. Dietro all'altare principale è presente il sepolcro marmoreo dei principi Carlo d'Aragona Tagliavia e della moglie contessa Beatrice d'Aragona Tagliavia. English The church of San Domenico is better known as the Sicilian Sistine Chapel because, although the exterior looks gaunt and a little shabby, the interior boasts wonderful baroque and polychrome plastic decorations. Once entered, visitors will be enchanted and impressed by the quantity of decorations, paintings, statues and stuccos that overlap almost to infinity. It was built in 1470.
