This is an event for geocachers to gather to celebrate the kickoff of a new GeoArt celebrating our dear friend HD JP. HD JP was known by many in Virginia as well as around the country as a prolific finder of caches as well as a wonderful ambassador for geocaching. He was a terrific PAF and had an uncanny recall (or really good notes) about the caches he had found. He was kind and encouraging to old and new cachers alike. He left us too soon in early October 2018 and the members of the Central VA Geocaching Association (CVGA) have been busy planning a series of caches to honor his memory. Please come and join us at 11:00 a.m. on the 9th (holiday shopping can wait right?) for some fellowship and sharing of memories about HD JP. The event will last an hour, until 12:00 p.m., but you are welcome to stay as long as you like. This GeoArt is the latest contribution from CVGA members. The GeoArt consists of 52 easy puzzle caches that will be released around 19:00 hours the day before the event. The event is being held at Cul's Courthouse Grille 10801 Courthouse Road, Charles City, VA. Cul's opens at 11:00 a.m. that morning, and they are expecting geocachers. You can fuel up for you day here or just socialize. There is parking on site or directly across the street at the Charles City Courthouse. The courthouse parking area is a good place to pick up the trail for the geocaches. There is also parking at the western end of the GeoArt at the Herring Creek Trailhead, 5100 Herring Creek Road, Charles City, VA.
The GeoArt caches will be located along the Virginia Capital Trail. Per the official trail web site: "The Capital Trail is a dedicated, paved pedestrian and bicycle trail that connects the Commonwealth's past and present capitals of Jamestown and Richmond along the scenic Route 5 corridor. The Trail traverses approximately 52 miles alongside some of Virginia's most beautiful and historic sites on one of the first inland routes in North America."
