Geocache Description:

16 February 2019, 16:00 - 19:00

Saturday, February 16, 2019

4:00PM to 7:00PM

Pizza, games, prizes, and most importantly... geo-friends!

Thanks to everyone for making this event a fun and successful first "Game Night". We hope to do it again!

Look for "Part 2" (Geo Pictionary), at this same location on March 30, 2019: GC83R8V

green nikki has prepared three different games to share during this event: Geo-Jeopardy, The Geo-Family Feud, and Geo Pictionary. Attendees may chose to participate for fun and prizes, or just enjoy the spectacle of it all from the audience section. Details about participation in the games are included below.

We will have at least 56 pieces of pizza (2 full sheets) and several pitchers of soft drinks available for all attendees. Small cash donations will be accepted to help defray the cost, but are certainly not required to be paid by attendees. Additional food and drinks will be available at the front counter, the cost of which can be paid by each interested attendee.

So plan to join us for good food, fun, games, and of course, the company of good geo-friends!

Planned schedule:

4:00-4:15 - Meet and greet, final, "at-the-door" game registration; contestants get your name tags (if you have a trackable nametag, you are encouraged to use it)

4:15 - The pizza and drinks will likely arrive sometime between 4:00 and 4:15, so this is a good time to grab a few bites before the events begin (of course food consumption may continue during the games for the audience)

Geo-Jeopardy (4:30 pm)

Three to Four contestants will battle each other giving the questions that match the stated answers in two rounds (Geo-Jeopardy and Double Geo-Jeopardy) to earn the most geo-cache-points and be declared the winner! We intend to have buzzers, video question boards, and maybe even theme music to provide a realistic Geo-Jeopardy experience. We are using a play-in round, so we will start with between 8 and 12 contestants, depending on interest.

5:15 - Game reset and intermission; enjoy ongoing pizza, and cake will also be available

The Geo-Family Feud (5:30 pm)

Two teams of up to five each try to think like a geocacher and respond with answers to geo-related questions posed by survey to 100 (or more) geocachers from around the internet. Which team will most think like a typical geocacher and win the day?

Geo Pictionary (6:00 pm)

How good an artist are you? Or how well can you decipher doodles made by your team mates? This is pictionary geo-style! Get your markers and over-sized tablets ready! This could get wild!

6:45 (or conclusion of Pictionary) - Final Trivia for all in attendance having not yet received any prizes during the earlier games

Registration for the games portion of the event, for those interested:

We can accept between 3 and 4 players for the Geo-Jeopardy (but we will be able to accommodate more interested players through a "play-in" round), which will be run similar to a single episode of the popular show on TV. Additionally, there are slots for up to ten contestants for the Geo-Family Feud (in two evenly-split groups of up to five each). The Geo Pictionary game will likely handle up to 20 players, but possibly more, so this could be an "all in" type of game for all those interested who are in attendance.

Information on this event and any news of upcoming events will continue to be available.... Simply browse to:

Congrats to m3a9 for winning it all in Geo-Jeopardy for this first game event and to the 74vwBus and Friends Team for winning the Geo-Family Feud!

Online registration is not required to play the games if space is still available on the day of the event, but if we know the interested number of attendees for the games in advance, it will make the setup of the games the night of the event a little smoother. If we get more people interested than there are available slots, a random lottery will be held a few days before the event. Attendees selected for each game will be notified by geo-message. Participation in multiple games is possible unless the interest in the games exceeds the available slots, in which case, preference will be given to those not already signed up for one of the other games. We will start by picking the two Geo-Family Feud teams, then pick up to four Geo-Jeopary contestants, and finally the contestants for Geo Pictionary.

When registering for Geo-Family Feud, you can include just yourself or suggest up to four additional attendees to make a team. We will consider 'teams' for this game as a single entry if a lottery is required, and if single players could be mixed in to teams with under five, that will be done by the organizers to attempt to keep both teams in this game to an equal number of players.

If an attendee is not able to be at the event for the full time, but would like to participate in one of the games, we will attempt to work out the game schedule within the evening to accommodate all the participants as much as possible. The registration form will provide a spot to indicate any time concerns.

Feel free to message mrGreen317 (event CO) for any questions you may have.

Hope to see you there!
