This Geocache is NOT at the posted Coords
Permission was obtained from North Sydney Council for this Geocache.
The posted coords take you to an intersection between several trails, Berry Island Loop, Gore Cove and Badangi Reseve, all of which are excellent for trail running.
Sydney is a fantastic city for running, there's many stretches you can do all on cyclepath and pedestrian footpaths where you can run for a day and not have to cross a single traffic-heavy road. What's better is that there are trails like these in pockets of bushland right near the city. Road running and trail running are totally different ball games but equally enjoyable. Hopefully you will enjoy your run/trek through some of these trails.
Running has become more and more popular these days with everyone in the office "Signing up for XYZ marathon" or something similar. With the way things are going Ultra running is looking to be the next big thing, literally. An Ultramarathon is classified as anything further than a marathon, but they range in distance from 50k, 50 miles, 100k, 100miles and even further! Usually over mountain passes and difficult terrain.
How to calculate the coords:
To calculate the final coords, identify the race from the clues below, For example it could be Berlin Marathon.
Once you have identified the race, identify the Winner, for Example A = 2018 - Male, means Men's Winner 2018.
Take the Digital Root (summed to 1 digit) of the winners name based on how they appear in the published results, for Example If the winner was Eliud Kipchoge, the DR is 5 + 12 + 9 + 21 + 4 + 0 + 11 + 9 + 16 + 3 + 8 + 15 + 7 + 5 = 125 and this gives 1+2+5 =8
The Race:
1) The race is NOT a Marathon (42.2km)
2) The race is NOT in Australia
3) In it's first three years, each year the race had only a single entrant and in the second year the runner did not finish. The race became "Official" in it's 4th year.
4) Weather dependent the course may be re-routed due to snow
5) There are river crossings in this race, depending on the weather, participants may be ferried across!
6) The most successful Female to compete has managed to win 10 years in a row, the most successful male, 7 years in a row.
7) Since the surge in interest in running, the race now has strict entry requirements and also has a ballot system in place.
8) Due to changes in legislation since the race had first started, parts of the course were deemed "Protected land" and in a measure to preserve the land, no organised events would be allowed. However this race was granted special permission by the relevant authorities as long as the field size was capped to a certain limit.
The Winners:
A = 2013 - Male
B = 2008 - Female
C = 2011 - Male
D = 2015 - Male
E = 2010 - Female
F = 2017 - Female
G = 2016 - Female
H = 2017 - Male
J = 2008 - Female
K = 2014 - Male
