This cache is located just before the 1.8 km marker along the Baiyang Trail in Taroko National Park.
The 2.1 km Baiyang Trail is one of our family favorites in Taroko National Park. The trail head is just past Tianxiang on the main highway heading east. We call it "The Tunnel Hike" because it begins with a longish tunnel that cuts through the mountain and comes out in the gorgeous valley on the other side. The trail is mostly flat and follows an old road along the Tacijili River, through several tunnels, and ends in the Water Curtain Cave. It helps to have a flashlight along but one is not absolutely necessary.
The Water Curtain Cave consists of an old tunnel with water pouring out of the ceiling in such a way that it mimics a curtain made out of water. Since there is water dripping everywhere inside the cave/tunnel, most people take off their shoes and put on disposable rain ponchos before they enter. Used ponchos that one can borrow are often left in the area immediately outside of the cave/tunnel. An umbrella works fine too.

Earlier on the trail (1.95K), there is a side trail that leads to the left across a hanging bridge and to a large viewing platform on the other side. The Baiyang Waterfall and several smaller waterfalls and streams cascading in close proximity to each other create an inviting corner of Taiwan that keeps calling us back for many repeat visits. Since it is hard to get an accurate GPS reading in this narrow river valley, a spoiler pic is included. The cache is located somewhere in the area shown in the spoiler pic below. The cache is easily reachable from the path so there is no need to climb up the rocks on the upside of the trail.
