MORAY ROADSIDE SERIES GEO-PROPS No3 Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

xbeccax: Unfortunately the locals have eaten our little friend and he looks bedraggled and not as cute. I also believe that he was wasted on this roadside cache and deserved more, so I will not replace him. There is also a possibility of the Elgin bypass coming through this area???? Mister T

Geocache Description:

COVID19 COVID19 VIRUS CAN BE TRANSFERRED BY CONTACT. PLEASE TAKE WHATEVER PRECAUTIONS YOU FEEL SAFE WITH. THANKS AND KEEP SAFE.

Caches are placed at a location which has usually some special interest, beauty or a favourite place previously visited.

Roadside caches, not always a favourite, and quite commonly used for speed (Cache and Dash (C&D)), normally have limited options.

This series of caches are primarily for the newbies and families with young children.  Having to walk too far can be problematic and finding only the basic plastic containers, not too much fun for the wee ones?

BRITISH BIRDS (OWLS)

When out Geocaching its always fun to look out for wildlife, respect their homes and environment.

How many of the five species of UK owl have you ever seen?

They can be very difficult to find and see, most of them are out and about when the rest of us are tucked up inside, they come well camouflaged, and some make their homes in hard-to-reach places.

The five species are:

BARN OWL

Barn Owl

Often found around farm buildings, barns and the edge of villages.

TAWNY OWL

Barn Owl

This is the owl that’s supposed to say “Twit twoo”.  This is NOT true.  The male owl “Hoots”.  You can do this very easily by cupping your hands together and blowing through.

LONG EARED OWL

Barn Owl

In winter Long-eared owls often roost in groups, which are called ‘a parliament of owls’

LITTLE OWL

Barn Owl

Not much bigger than a Blackbird.

Unfortunately, not seen this far north.

So did you see anything in the woods today?

PLEASE ensure that you have TWEEZERS and something to write with.  THANKS
