A quiet footpath side cache between two lovely villages, where there is abundant parking. It can be combined with the other caches in the area, but be warned, it get very muddy. So, unless the ground is frozen or we have had a long dry period, then wellies are highly recommended. (There are some stiles to cross in order to get to this one, so that maybe a factor if you are considering bringing dogs).This Geocache was placed with the kind permission of the ‘Caldbeck and Hesket Newmarket Parish Council’. Caldbeck and Hesket Newmarket are two of the most beautiful and peaceful of all the Lakeland villages, lying at the foot of the Northern Fells and just inside the Lake District National Park. The timeless character of the villages has been preserved as a conservation area where ponies, sheep, cattle and even ducks roam freely.
The area has lots of amenities and picturesque local walks of all standards; from easy strolls along the river side, to the more strenuous nearby mountains of High Pike or Carrock Fell.
I am a massive rock music fan and aim to give clues to each of my caches with reference to one of my favourite bands: Santana are a Latin infused rock band that were formed in San Francisco in 1966 (eponymously named after guitarist Carlos). The band came to public attention with their stunning performance at Woodstock in 1969. Since then there has been a revolving door of many, many musicians within the band, but always alongside Carlos. According to the Guinness World Records; Santana has the longest gap between number one US albums (Santana lll in 1971 and Supernatural in 1999). The band has sold over 100 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling groups of all time.
