This is the second cache in my first group of caches which celebrate David Bowie's early life in the London Borough of Bromley. Though David Bowie is often remembered as a Brixton Boy, he actually grew up and went to school in various locations around the Bromley Borough from the age of 6.
The novel Buddha in Suburbia, by Hanif Kureshi, is believed to be based on his admiration for David Bowie when they went to the same secondary school. In 1993 the novel was adapted into a 3-part TV series and David Bowie recorded a soundtrack. The video for the released song Buddha of Suburbia, was filmed in a couple of locations in Bromley, as well as showing clips from the programme.
This cache will begin in Whitehall Rec where David Bowie can be seen in the music video walking through the trees. The co-ordinates will take you to the entrance to the playground. As you face the playground sign, look to your left and you will see two rows of trees. These are the ones that David Bowie can be seen walking down in the video. You will need to complete the puzzle below to be taken to the main location in which the music video was shot.
The final location has the cache, but it is a 15 minute walk away so please leave time for this. The route takes you down an unmade road which may be unsuitable for wheelchairs or strollers. You are looking for a nano. Only those logged can be counted as finds.
