Geocache Description:

This series has just been updated, hopefully some of these are now a little bit easier.

This is the newest addition - there used to be a cache close by but has now been disabled.

The caches are a blend of easy finds and some that may require a bit more attention to detail as they may blend quite well into their environment.

I've lived in Otley a little while now and wanted other people to explore the little-hidden footpaths you may not realise are there. The Trail will take you from Menston - up a nice footpath which can lead rather onto the old train line (which the trail follows) or it can take you toward chevin road. The trail is designed to take you on a short circular walk.

You can start either from the lay-by as listed on here under Parking (close to the pub) or you can start from Bradford Road near the golf course.

A brief history of the line if anyone is interested....

Otley railway station was a railway station serving the town of Otley in West YorkshireEngland. It was opened as a joint venture on the Otley and Ilkley Joint Railway, constructed by the North Eastern Railway and the Midland Railway, on 1 February 1865. The station was closed on 22 March 1965. Tracks and buildings have been removed since. The Otley branch line joined Arthington, in the east, to Ilkley and Menston in the west via a junction known as Milnerwood. The length of the line was about six miles[1] and spanned a range of terrain at the foot of The Chevin with a substantial cutting through a sandstone ridge near Milnerwood.

The Cache is located along the path which was the old railway line. There are various ways of getting onto the path from Bradford Road. One near the Otley Golf Course, the other at the top end by the roundabout and one midway on Bradford Road just past Sunnydale Crescent heading toward otley.
