Town Name: North Bradley

Population: Approx. 100

Reason For Becoming A Lost Town: Slowly lost relevance as a railroad stop and a post office. Now just a hamlet.

Town History: As the Pere Marquette reached northwards to Sanford and further, stops were needed to help haul local lumber and supplies. William Button answered that call when he bought land in Geneva Township (named after his former hometown of the same name in Ohio) and established a small town in the 1870s. Originally named Buttonville after the town founder, North Bradley eventually contained mills, 2 hotels, a depot, several general stores, a drug store, a physician, a Methodist church, a school and many homes. While the lumber industry thrived, so did the town, but it wasn't to last. North Bradley was lucky that the Pere Marquette railroad continued on, and US-10 gave the town an exit, but it wasn't enough. After 110 years of service, the post office closed in 1984. One of the few businesses still remaining in town is the general store.

North Bradley might the smallest community on US-10, but it lives on as a stop for motorists on the highway, and now bikers and hikers on the Pere Marquette Rail Trail (formerly the railroad).

Cache Description: Cache is a pill bottle located at the far end of this cemetery. BYOP!
