The Nihonbashi Post Office was formerly located at this site, but due to redevelopment of the area, it was temporarily relocated about 300 meters away on October 20, 2025. This site was where “Ekiteishi” (current Japan Post) and “Yubin Yakusho” (current the Tokyo Central Post Office) were established when the modern postal system began in 1870s. There were the plate of "the Birthplace of Postal Service" and a bust of Hisoka Maejima, known as "the Father of the Postal System". In addition, there was a golden mailbox that was established in commemoration of 100-years anniversary of the postal system. A sculpture with a design that many people support the earth was placed on a metal body with a message saying "Postal mail connects the world".

この場所には日本橋郵便局がありましたが、この地区の再開発により、2025年10月20日に約300メートル離れた場所に仮移転しました。この場所は、明治初期に近代郵便制度が始まった際、駅逓司（現在の日本郵政）と郵便役所（現在の東京中央郵便局）が設置された地であり、「郵便発祥の地」のプレートや、「郵便制度の父」として知られる前島密の胸像が設置されていました。また、郵便創業100年を記念して設置された金色のポストがあり、「郵便は世界を結ぶ」とメッセージが書かれた金属製の本体の上に、大勢の人達が地球を支えるデザインの彫刻が置かれていました。
