Geocache Description:

Victoria Dock was the first dock to be built to the east of the River Hull, opening in July 1850 and closing in 1970. It was used for importing and exporting many different goods during its life but became well known as the city's Timber Dock. Built on reclaimed land from a stilted up river channel, it stretches over a mile in length from Earle's Shipyard at the Eastern End to Sammy's Point at the West where the Humber meets the Hull.

After closing in 1970, the dock land lay disused until 1987, when it was purchased by Hull City Council and work began on developing the Victoria Dock Village.

It is nice to park up at Earle's Yard and walk along the river front in to the city. It will take about 20-30 minutes.
