The Park River Coliseum was in its heyday during the “Big Bands” musical era, as many of the nation’s most popular bands played there. The structure was built by David Martin and opened in July 0f 1931. Local folklore has it that dancers paid 5 cents per dance and that the dance floor was roped off and guarded very closely by members of the local American Legion. Today the coliseum is used for many public and private events including weddings, auction sales, and more.
