Geocache Description:

This is a very unique location.  I consider myself very well traveled. I have never come across "2" separate cemeterys next to each other.  There is about 80 feet or less space between them. The cemeterys are located on Jackson Hill Road, in North Leverett.  You can easily park in front of either cemetery.  As you face the cemeterys - The cemetery on the right hand side is called North Leverett Cemetery.  It dates back to 1774.,surrounded by a stone wall.  By the front gate to this cemetery you can squeak pass the left gate to enter to look around. I found the center area extremely interesting.  The middle of the cemetery had black grave stones which in itself isn't too common for the period, but their width and heights are most striking.  The thickness is towards the thinner side ,just a few inches, unlike typical modern day stones around 6, 10" or more.  The heights are very unusual as well--some around 6 foot. After visiting this cemetery , i walked to the one on the left side,as you face it.  The left side cemetery is called Marvell Cemetery.  It's slightly newer, dating back to 1800 according to the sign.  It's still quite old.  This cemetery is an old private cemetery.  Marvell was a real estate broker in the early 1900's.  His grandfather as well as other Marvells own land in this area dating back to the 1700's.  Somehow, this cemetery looked older than 1800 compared to its neighbor cemetery.  The cache is located behind the Marvell Cemetery.  As you face the cemetery;the cache is on top of the fence post, where the pickett fence creates the corner.  The cache is a mircro, easily visible-i painted it white.  Being a micro it contains a log inside a mini zip lock bag.-has a screw off cap.  The cache is the size and shape of 7 quarters stacked on top of each other. i placed a small stone on top of it to prevent heavy winds from blowing it away. The fence post is sunken down about 4" lower than the fence, creating wind protection. I walked along the outside of the cemetery to place it.  Please return as found.  I hope that everyone enjoys this unique site.  This is not a difficult find.  Please respect the fact that these are cemeterys.
