The A580 is the United Kingdom's first purpose-built intercity highway running in an almost straight alignment with few curves, it measures 29.5 miles. The road, which remains a primary A road, was officially opened by King George V on 18 July 1934. It links to Salford to Walton in Liverpool a miles east of the city centre. So in celebration of this great road, that many of us have traveled along many times... here is a series of 18 caches taking you to the edge of the Manchester ring road... all caches are in laybys or very close to one.
