Geocache Description:

This is a geocache placed as part of our 'Interesting features we've seen on maps' series. This cache is placed at a cairn about half a kilometre north-west of the original wind farm on Eaglesham Moor at Myres Hill, which predates the newer Whitelee Wind Farm. Questions which arise from this cairn include:

Why is the cairn here?
According to Canmore: 'The OS trig cairn lies near the centre of an earlier low spreading cairn 65' - 70' in diameter... The cairn, constructed of small stones as compared with the heavy scree boulders on the N face of the hill, has all the appearance of a Bronze Age burial mound.'

Why, on the OS 1:25,000 maps, does the cairn appear to have a circular fence around it?
Canmore again offers an answer to this question: 'Around [the cairn] are the remains of a circular sheep reive.' Whatever the reason for it being here, it's now the reason behind this cache's name.

Can I see a photo of this cairn in case I'm not sure whether I've just strolled across a random cairn in this vast area of nothingness or whether I might've identified the right cairn?
You should've asked!

Why is there a geocache at such a random place?
That's anyone's guess :D
