This cache is dedicated to the men of the Civilian Conservation Corps who built this beautiful park in the heart of The Ocala National Forest. The C.C.C. employed 3 million men at one time constructing projects across the U.S. this cache is a memorial to them, that others may be able to view their work.
According to a plaque outside the millhouse, in 1935 President Roosevelt's Civilian Conservation Corps cleared boulders from the springhead and erected a concrete wall around the pool. Batteries inside the millhouse were used to store electricity generated by the water wheel.
If you visit the millhouse, you can learn of the legend that brought the C.C.C. to this spring, as well as learning gobs of stuff about the spring itself and the run.
This park boasts the only sub-tropical enviroment in the Continental U.S. You will realize what this means as you tour the park. There is an entry fee so this is not a grab and go cache. There are many things to do here to include swimming in the natural spring, nature trails, picnicing and canoeing. For the truly adventurous this is the entry point for the Geocache Da Dog Yaks.
Have fun and enjoy,
The Federation.
