The monument commemorates those who have died in service or been killed in action in the various conflicts in which Australia has been involved. In proximity to the monument are a number of crosses with plaques to servicemen who have died in conflict.
The monument was originally part of the entrance to the Stanwell Tops Pleasure Park which was developed in the 1930's, by Henry Halloran. The stone feature entrance had a sign “Pleasure Park” on the top and it housed a flag pole and bollard from H.M.A.S. Sydney.
