Geocache Description:

Welcome to Saku island.
Saku island in Mikawa bay is the biggest island in Aichi prefecture. It is in about 10km from Isshiki Port. Its coastline is about 11km and the highest point is about 38m. There are some Kofuns (old tombs), Oshima island (fishing center), Tsutsushima island (Benten shrine), some beaches, some shrines, some temples and so on in Saku island area. The population is about 300 people and there is neither traffic signal nor convenience store here.

It takes about 30 minutes by ship from Isshiki Port to Saku island.

愛知県下に三島ある有人島のなかでも最大の佐久島は2011年4月西尾市に合併され面積は181ヘクタール、東京ディズニーランドの約3倍で海岸線の総延長は約11キロメートルです。島内には古墳時代後期の古墳がかって50基あまり確認され、あっちこっちに弘法さんの祠も1916年に建造されています。島中いたるところにアートが点在する佐久島は「日本の里100選」にも選ばれた自然あふれる島です。一色港からの渡船で最初に佐久島西港へ到着、東港で下船するも良し、まずは佐久島体験マップを貰いハイキングをお楽しみ下さい。
