As far as I know, I don't think anyone in the local geocaching community has ever held an event like this so welcome to the inaugural one! Let's see how this turns out and maybe this can become an annual thing.
Come out and celebrate Lunar New Year. Check out all the happenings around Chinatown. Be part of the neighbourhood celebrations.
This year, the Lunar New Year starts on Feb 5, 2019. It marks the start of the year 4717 in the Chinese calendar and will be the Year of the Pig in the Chinese zodiac.
Were you born in the Year of the Pig? Do you know what animal you are? If not, come find out! Learn if your personality matches your animal. See how compatible you are (or not!) with your partner.
This event itself will be a half hour long from 11:00am till 11:30am. There may be treats and other surprises at the event. I'd love to get a photo of the inaugural group towards the end of the event as well.
Afterwards, everyone is welcome to enjoy all the other happenings in the area, which, in turn, should give those hard-core big game fans plenty time to get home for kickoff. There's also one of the new virtual caches (GC7BA1F) released last year that shows you some of highlights of Chinatown; in fact, one of its waypoints could be very near this event. :-)
Please dress appropriately as the event will be outdoors. And remember on-street parking downtown is free on Sundays.
