Geocache Description:

This is one of a series of caches beside the Thames Path between Pangbourne and Mapledurham Lock.

Directions to the Cache

This cache is reached by travelling along the Thames path.

Hardwick House

On the other side of the river you can see Hardwick House, parts of which date from the early 16th Century. It is one of several houses with a claim to have inspired EH Shepard's illustrations of Toad Hall for 'Wind in the Willows'.

Kind Charles I played bowls at Hardwick House. This was during a visit he made under escort, whilst he was a prisoner being held in Oxford.
