The Tara Lagoon is part of the Undulla Creek that travels through to the larger Condamine river. These lagoons have long been an important part of the townships early history. Early pioneers held picnics by the lagoon since the 1900s. Today the lagoon is a popular recreation destination, with fishing and yabby competitions, birdwatching, camping facilities, and cycling & walking tracks. Nearby is the Walk of Remembrance garden which includes a tree for each servicemen who resided in the region.
