This is the fourth cache in the Cliburn-Morland Circular Series
This walk is an anti-clockwise circuit from Cliburn (where parking is available close to the Parish Church) to Morland, where refreshments are available everyday (except Mondays and Tuesdays, so not everyday really...). It is based on a walk contained in a leaflet of Morland Rights of Way Circular Walks developed by the Parish Council, and available from the shop and Tea Room in Morland. The whole walk is about 5.5 miles in total.
This cache is located by the spring at the foot of the hill leading up into Morland Village. Powdonnet Well is a strong spring resurgence, said never to fail or freeze. It's name could be derived from that of an early Christian holy man - St. Donnet's Well, and is probably a reason for the very existence of the settlement. The standing stone on the site is modern, erected in 1995 to commemorate the Morland Pageant, and could well be the first standing stone erected in Britain for 4000 years.
Take care crossing the road from the footpath to the spring. The cache is above head height and will involve a bit of an easy arboreal excursion
