Not many people know what this is.
This is a transmitter which sends out a signal for aircraft to follow. It is unusual as it is located down town.
The transmitter sends out a signal in all directions and aircraft within range of the transmitter can use their radio equipment to follow an inbound or outbound course, or work out where they are.
They are often located near airports.
This one is used for both the military and commercial airports in Taitung as well as by over-flying aircraft.
