Cascatelle e Vecchio Mulino di Bibbona Traditional Cache

Cache nascosta nel complesso della Macchia della Magona.

La Macchia costituisce un complesso boscato di notevole valore di 1635 ettari che fa parte del Demanio Regionale e viene gestita dal Comune di Bibbona.

Il suo nome deriva dal fatto che un tempo il legname da essa prelevato approvigionava l'industria della Magona di Cecina.

La zona, con rilievi la cui quota oscilla tra i 65 e i 533 mt slm, è caratterizzata da versanti dolci e da numerosi fossi che in inverno presentano carattere torrentizio mentre d'estate sono quasi o totalmente asciutti.

Partendo dal parcheggio e quindi dalla Casetta di Campo di Sasso, si imbocca il sentiero a destra e si scende giù per circa 500 metri fino ad incontrare l'area pic-nic del Botro di Campo di Sasso. Svoltando quindi a destra si troverà sulla sinistra un piccolo steccato che delimita il viottolo che porterà alle Cascatelle ed ai resti del Vecchio Mulino. Gli ultimi gradini della scala ricavata nel terreno sono un po pericolosi quindi si raccomanda prudenza. 

La cache rimane nascosta prima di scendere giù verso il botro nel muro di ciò che rimane del vecchio mulino dietro alcuni sassi.

Hidden cache in the Macchia della Magona complex.

La Macchia is a wooded complex of considerable value of 1635 hectares which is part of the Regional State Property and is managed by the Municipality of Bibbona.

Its name derives from the fact that once the woods taken from it procured the industry of the Magona di Cecina.

The area, with elevations ranging between 65 and 533 meters above sea level, is characterized by gentle slopes and numerous ditches that in winter have torrential character while in summer they are almost or totally dry.

Starting from the parking and then from the Casetta di Campo di Sasso, take the path on the right and go down for about 500 meters until you meet the Botro di Campo di Sasso picnic area. Turning to the right then you will find on the left a small fence that delimits the path that will lead to the Cascatelle and the remains of the Old Mill. The last steps of the staircase in the ground are a bit dangerous so caution is recommended.

The cache remains hidden before going down towards the botro in the wall of what remains of the old mill behind some rocks.
