The fox has a special meaning in Luxembourg... Apart from the ongoing discussion about whether to ban fox hunting or not, the animal is well-known for being the hero of Michel Rodange’s most notable work, the Renert (very similar to the French "renard"). In 1872 Michel Rodange composed "Renert. De Fuuss am Frack an a Maansgréisst", a fable in verse and in Luxembourgish about a cunning fox, which was to become the national epic par excellence. The story is adapted from Goethe’s "Reineke Fuchs"! With this geocache tour, we are following the footprints of Renert, which are present all throughout Luxembourg-City! The whole tour is approx. 4.5 km long. Backstory: Initially we created this tour for the "Journées du Livre et du Droit d’Auteur", a yearly celebration in the week of the 23rd of April (World Book Day). During that week, libraries and bookshops offer lots of activities and events to the general public as well as to school classes. We (the librarians of the Ecole Privée Fieldgen) created a geocache tour for our students. What is a checksum? (Quersumme) Example: Take the number 13, the checksum is 1+3 = 4 Example: Take the year 1978 = 1+9+7+8 = 25
