Geocache Description:

Northern Lights GeoTour on 12 kätkön sarja Saariselän ja Kiilopään maisemissa. Kätköt tekevät tutuksi revontulten olemusta ja niihin liittyviä uskomuksia. Kätköt ovat perheystävällisiä ja talvilöydettäviä.

Northern Lights GeoTour is a series or 12 caches in Saariselkä and Kiilopää areas in Finnish Lapland. The caches will take you into the world of the northern lights and present facts and myths about the aurora borealis phenomenon. All the caches are family friendly and accessible throughout a year.

Suratan-Tura

Suratan-Tura on Siperiassa asuvan alkuperäiskansan, Chuvas-heimon, jumalatar, joka auttoi naisia synnytyksessä. Revontulet olivat erityisesti pojan syntymisen merkki. Heimon mukaan revontulten loimussa näkyi usein leikkiviä lapsia. Samaa uskomusta on monen muun kansan keskuudessa. Useissa tarinoissa revontulet ovat hedelmällisyyden merkki.

Kätköstä löydät hedelmällisen maatuskan, sitten logivihon ja viimein reissaajan. Reissaajan tarkoitus on pysyä tässä purkissa vaalimassa hedelmällisyyttä kuin Suratan-Tura.

Northern Lights GeoTour

GeoTourin omaa geokolikkoa on myytävänä rajoitettu määrä leimattua GeoTour-passia vastaan. Sinun tulee käydä vähintään kuudella GeoTourin kätköllä sekä leimata passisi kätköstä löytyvillä reijittäjillä. The Chuvash aboriginal people of Siberia worshipped a goddess named Suratan-Tura. This goddess helped women with childbirth and the northern lights were especially the sign of a newborn boy. Images of children at play were often seen in the flashing lights. Many other cultures have similar beliefs, as well as regarding the northern lights as a sign of fertility.

In the cache you will find a matryoshka doll, a log book, and a trackable. Do not remove the trackable. It’s supposed to stay in this cache, cherishing fertility like Suratan-Tura.

Northern Lights GeoTour coins are available for purchase on a first-come, first-serve basis. You must present the punched passport in order to buy a coin (maximum of one black and one purple coin per Username). Show 6 punch marks from different caches to purchase the black geocoin, and 12 punch marks to purchase the purple geocoin. More information at Suomen Latu profile page.
