About Peckham Rye Park - Totem Pole
This totem pole was carved from a stump and unveiled in 2014.
During Victorian times a number of trees were planted around the common in order to clean up the polluted air. Some have long disappeared as they have died, suffered storm damage or simply been removed. This tree survived until recent times but was unfortunately killed when winter road salt was stored next to it.
Instead of removing the stump an artist was commissioned to create this amazing Totem Pole.
To find the cache you need the following numbers:
Amount of people standing at the base of the pole = A
Number of heads peeking out between the feet at the base of the pole = B
Number of times the word 'YOU' is written around the middle of the pole = C
The cache can be found at N51 27. C (A-2) B W000 03. (C+3) (A+4) B
