Geocache Description:

This cache is on Isle au Haut, Maine, accessible by a regular mail/ferry boat out of Stonington, Maine. This is a passenger boat only, no cars, although you may bring a bike or kayak aboard for a small fee. Once on the island you can hike or bike to the Seal Trap trailhead. The woods, sea and views are worth the hike.

This cache is located on PRIVATE LAND not Acadia National Park, a large portion of which is also located on Isle au Haut. There is one thirteen mile road that goes around the island, part of it is paved, most of it is not. From the Town Landing turn right onto the road (paved). From Duck Harbor turn left onto the road (unpaved). The Seal Harbor trailhead is right off the road (unpaved) on the west side. The trail used to be marked by a small sign but that is no longer there. The trailhead is located at approximately these coordinates: N 44 03.472 W068 38.787 Enter the woods at these coodinates and start on the trail. The trail is sometimes steep and always uneven due to the rocks, roots and topography. You will be hiking along the trail for roughly 30 minutes and I recommend staying on the trail for the entire of the way until you get close to the cache. The cache is in a clear, medium sized, round plastic container with an orange snap-on lid. CONTENTS: military parachutist wings, Laughlin AFB patch, old cigar in tube, squirting toy dolphin, rubber snake, 1 die, senior pilot wings, Texas fossil, jingle bell, super ball, mini Magic 8 Ball, Asian coins.
