Extreme stealth required as cache is overlooked by residential properties
Duncan Down rises out of the coastal town of Whitstable, it covers 23 hectares of land and has steep slopes to the highest points. In the 1930’s the land was intended for housing, however it is now protected as a village green. Duncan Down is managed by Canterbury City Council in partnership with local residents and the Friends of Duncan Down. The woodland, scrubland, grassland and stream provide a mosaic of habitats for wildlife. With entrances leading onto the hill from nearby residential roads the land is a well used asset in the local community. Wide mown pathways cross through the land and benches provide welcome rest points at the top of the hill. This park has been awarded a Green Flag. These awards recognise the best green spaces in the country, helping you choose where to visit.
This park and open space contains uneven trails, un-surfaced or narrow pathways. Also, there are width restricting features, such as stiles and narrow gaps making it difficult for visitors with pushchairs and/or wheelchairs to access some parts of the site.
I'm a Girlguiding UK leader, a new programme was released in July 2018 and a whole new set of badges, including Geocaching. There are very few Non premium Caches in the area, so I've been creating some easy & safe ones to help them obtain the badge
Once you have found the Duncan Downs Delight Series you might like to visit some older caches on Duncan Downs, Benacre Wood. along with the St Andrews Church micro
