GeoTour Stop #09: Norfolk Arts Center
Norfolk, with its modern museum, theater, library, and arts center, quickly became known as the cultural center of northeast Nebraska. On June 5, 2000, the new Norfolk Arts Center, a $1.7 million structure and the center’s third location, was dedicated. The Norfolk Arts Center began in 1978 in the old Carnegie Library building (GeoTour Stop #2) at 803 Norfolk Avenue. By 1994, board members realized the need for a new facility, and a major fund drive was organized. The center includes a gallery, classrooms, a meeting room, and kitchen; plus, a unique feature, the adjacent sculpture garden.
