Get you bike out or your running shoes on for a short sprint down the old run-down Belconnen bus lane. You will have to enter from one of the given waypoints, the ends of the bus lane, to get to the cache. You CAN NOT go there straight from the sides as fences block in the entire remainder of the old street, but it is open access from either end.
It's a mystery to me why they never removed the fence after all these years, and why the locals don't seem to care. This space is very much underused and could be a nice play area for local kids. There is a proposal out to make this into part of a new bike path, so eventually they just might renew this entire area.
Australia doesn't seem to have as many lost places as eg Europe. Typically I wouldn't call this a lost place but in the furthest sense of the concept it is an "old unused structure" and as such one could refer to it as LP i guess.
This is a first cache in what might become a series of caches highlighting run-down places in Belconnen. Feel free to chip in and contribute a hide to the series if you find an interesting run-down place.
