Geocache Description:


Located on Berger Dam Trail in Sweet Arrow Lake County Park.  Placed with Permission.  Ammo Can a short distance from the remains of Berger Dam.  

This dam built across the Upper Little Swatara Creek before 1783 by one of the Pine Grove areas first settlers, harnessed the creek's water power to operate the adjacent saw mill and grist mill.  The property was later owned by the Berger Family and became known as Berger's Dam.  The mill pond created by the dam was also used for ice harvesting. 

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO ACCESS THIS CACHE FROM RT 443.  The only parking space iwould be on private property.  The cache is located just off Berger Dam trail which intersects with Waterfall trail at the bridge.  (Blue blaze)  Acess Waterfall trail from the Clubhouse entrance or from the Waterfall parking lot.
