On the way up the ecological staircase trail. You can stop to find another cache. Trail is moderate hiking and can be accessed through several locations including lower parking lot, beach trail and even a side road. This cache is kind of part of my Benchmarks the spot series that stretches from willits to Ukiah now to fort Bragg which I have incorporated Benchmarks as part of the container and hidden benchmark style, only this ones a little different. Cache was placed on an evening venture with a friend from work while attending water training class in Mendocino, we hiked this trail and it was the first time he was able to see the pygmy forest. We also saw the area was flooded in spots with water which appeared red from the iron underground. There is a resident coin inside that I ask to be discovered only and not taken.
