I had alwayse passed by the sign on Rt. 30 that told of this monument, but never found the time to find and admire it. Finally one day I ventured to this small monument and proceeded to learn about its origins. I thought it was interesting, a nod to the pioneers of Bedford county, and figured more people should take the time to admire this little gem.
This moument was dedicated to the Kinsey family who built the first homestead in this area. They erected a log cabin in 1795 and settled here from Germany. In 1939 this monument was erected to commemorate these first pioneers of Bedford County.
There is no parking for the cache and monument so it is best to pull off on Byrne Rd. across the street.
