I have passed this site on many occasions on the way to the family crib in Waikawa. Now having an interest (could call it an addiction!) in geocaching thought it appropriate to place a cache in this location (my first BTW)
This area in the centre of Tokanui (originally named McEwan) was donated by Bob Burgess. Named 'RATA PARK' after the Southern Rata which is such a feature of the South Catlins and to reflect Bob's keen interest in Native Trees. There is a rest stop, playground and also another couple of items of interest (plaques) here.
The cache is a small pill container no room for swag, please replace and cover well, BYOPÂ
