This cache is hidden along a forest trail near the Kootenay Canal. The name refers to the nearby junction of the forest trail with the shoreline trail. The other junction close by is where a short, steep, zig-zag trail from the road joins the forest trail.
Park by the gates [N49 27.340 W117 28.505} and take the lower road.
Take the first trail on your left, the one that leads to Kootenay Pirates' Pirate's Fowl Cache GCJPTA. Except at the Y in the trail follow the right branch towards the forest [N 49 27.557 W 117 28.119]. Soon after the trail enters the forest you'll have to cross a small creek. Be careful. There are two bridges to choose from but both are made from boards that can be very slippery. Exercise the same care when you cross another creek further into the forest.
Another option is to stay on the road and enter the forest from the other end [N49 27.776 W117 27.906]. Take a short zig-zag trail down a steep bank to the forest trail.
GPS reception in the forest is quite poor.
The forest trail eventually leads out to the river shore not far from the base of the dam.
