Scouting Builds Ethics and Character
As youth, Scouts are taught to live by a code of conduct exemplified in the 12 points of the Scout Law, and they continue to live by these laws in adulthood. The Scout Law has 12 points. Each is a goal for every Scout. A Scout tries to live up to the Law every day. It is not always easy to do, but a Scout always tries.
A Scout is…
TRUSTWORTHY
LOYAL
HELPFUL
FRIENDLY
COURTEOUS
KIND
OBEDIENT
CHEERFUL
THRIFTY
BRAVE
CLEAN
REVERENT
Eagle Scout is the highest rank that a scout can earn. Earning the rank of Eagle Scout requires a scout to plan, lead, and complete a community service project. Each Geocache in this series will take you to a different Eagle Scout project that was completed by a local scout. My father and I are both very involved in scouts as well as being avid geocachers. I myself am an eagle scout. We wanted to create a series that honored many of my friends and fellow eagle scouts. Many of these projects we personally worked on to help these scouts finish their project and earn the rank of Eagle Scout.
This cache is the twelfth and final of the series and represents the Twelfth Point of the Scout Law…REVERENT. This cache is placed in honor of the many Eagle Scout Projects that have been done by Eagle Scouts at the Washington Historical Museum. The museum building is the old Washington High School. The museum holds a collection of artifacts, photographs, and other items pertaining to Washington Township and the surrounding area. The genealogy section contains family histories, cemetery records, local obituaries, local histories, and much more.
Inside the Washington Historical Museum there is a separate scouting museum which houses thousands of scouting related items such as uniforms, patches, medals, neckerchiefs, and many other items. This is a MUST SEE exhibit! WHAT A BETTER LOCATION FOR THE FINAL CACHE OF THIS SERIES!
The Washington Historical Museum is open the 2nd and 4th Sundays of each month from 1:00-4:00 pm from June through November. Plan your geocaching experience these times and take a few minutes to check out the museum and it's exhibits. THIS CACHE WAS PLACED WITH PERMISSION FROM THE WASHINGTON HISTORICAL MUSEUM BOARD.
Finding the final cache container will not be a challenge for this geocache. Figuring out how to open it will be your challenge! Inside the cache container you will find a container with scout patches. Feel free to take one as your reward for logging this geocache.
We hope you enjoy this series as much as we did in creating it. We hope to challenge and entertain you in the process. Please respect the area and other visitors.
