On the 27th of March 2002, there was a suicide bombing at the Park Hotel Netanya. This attack became known as the Seder Night Massacre. Thirty Israelis were killed and 160 were wounded. In terms of the number of casualties and fatalities, this was the worst terror attack in Israel's history. The attack was considered the main motive for operation Defensive Shield.
