Up Litter You Must Pick!
1000-1100
Sunday 28th April 2019
Hi guys! This is a quick and (hopefully) simple CITO in which I will definitely, absolutely, 100% guaranteed be hosting in Cambridge alongside the Great British Spring Clean.
Our host is Cambridge City Council, and our mission is a litter pick at St Albans Recreation Ground.
Our goal is to target the green space itself and collect as much litter as we can, whilst having fun and enjoying the usual cache chat and TB swaps, etc.
Because it’s taking place at the weekend, unfortunately, we won't have a council representative to attend for the briefing. However, our host has prepared a script for the mission prior to engagement!
Cambridge City Council will provide all necessary equipment and arrange for disposal of any collected detritus thereafter.
Please indicate your ‘will attend’ if you are planning to come - this gives me an idea of how many litter pickers i will need to borrow from the council!
On the day itself, please arrive at least five minutes early. We will then be given instructions and a Health & Safety brief from said script before the exercise begins.
Parking
I am sorry to say I am not totally familiar with local parking, though I have researched online and it would appear there is free parking available at Meadows Community Centre, (1 St Catharine's Rd, Impington, Cambridge CB4 3XJ, as per the posted coordinates.) If the car park is full or otherwise unavailable, then please park respectfully on local roads.
Where
We’ll meet on the green by the car park in front of the Community Centre, at the listed co-ordinates.
What
A quick and (comparitively) simple litter pick on St Albans Recreation Ground.
How
I will obtain sufficient marked bags and litter pickers from the Council prior to the CITO, so please add your ‘will attend’ so I have an idea of numbers. Please wear warm clothing, sensible footwear (wellies are ideal if you have them) and your own gloves if you prefer. All other equipment will be provided. The event will proceed in any weather unless there are high winds or storms. I anticipate this activity is suitable for almost any ability level.
Health and Safety
All health and safety rules apply. Children will need supervision and pets kept under control. Whilst no Council representative is available to attend in person at the weekend, H&S considerations will be covered in the briefing.
Any more questions, please get in touch!
Thanks for reading this, and hope to see you there!
